European Journal of Scientific Research pays tribute to Professor Dr. Vikas Verma contribution to the field of Science through his article titled Manufacturing Science, Production Technology, Material Science & Metallurgy, and Computational Thermodynamics

Dr. Vikas Verma

Dr. Vikas Verma, who is presently working as a Dean, Research & Development in Chandigarh Group of Colleges Jhanjeri (Mohali) India is one of the recipients of the Distinguished Scholar Award in 2021. With this award, the independent ad hoc Scientific Award Committee and the Editorial Board of the International Journal of Mechanical and Production Engineering pays tribute to Dr. Vikas Verma contribution to the field of Manufacturing Science, Production Technology, Material Science & Metallurgy, and Computational Thermodynamics.

Dr. Verma has a vast research and teaching experience having exposure of working in collaboration with different Scientists and Professors of premium institutes of different countries like Russia, United States of America (USA), Canada, South Korea, Brazil, Mexico and publishing several publications in Web of Science Journals. Dr. Vikas Verma came up as a winner of National University of Science and Technology, NUST “MISiS” Moscow Russia International Competition for Grants-2018 and worked as Scientist. He holds a Degree of Doctorate from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Roorkee, India apart from M.Tech and B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering. He had an opportunity to contribute book chapter in the book authored by Dr. Mrityunjay Singh, Chief Scientist, Ohio Aerospace Institute, NASA Glenn Research Center, Cleveland. Dr. Verma is affiliated to National Science Centre Poland as an Expert Reviewer for International Projects for evaluating proposals in open calls. He has been commended and awarded by Tribology Society of India, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee, Elsevier Group for his research contribution. He has been awarded Best Papers on international platforms and is associated to several professional organisations.

Professor Adrian Marcus Steinberg, the Chair of the Independent ad hoc Scientific Award Committee, said:

Dr. Vikas Verma has received the prestigious Distinguished Scholar Award 2021, because he has made a significant contribution to the existing knowledge in his selected area of research. His outstanding research on designing of novel air conditioning system using natural sources of coolness for desert, rural as well as urban areas has given a hope to the poor people for their difficult survivals in hot and desert area. The systems considered and designed is with regards to hot/arid and in hot/humid climates during summer season. It can be concluded that through natural air-conditioning system, thermal comfort can be maintained for buildings occupants with substantial savings in the total energy consumption, and a significant reduction in the peak electric power requirements.

The Distinguished Scholar Award is a prestigious academic recognition that have been presented to a very limited number of scientists from around the world since 2004 regardless of which scientific journal they have chosen as an outlet for their research. Selection of candidates are based on their outstanding scholarly contribution to the scientific knowledge in their fields of scientific research with respect to a set of criteria, including the overall importance of the research question or problem and level of innovation in the topic, the effectiveness and novelty of the methodology and data employed, academic significance and usefulness of conclusions resulting from the research, adequacy of the critical review of relevant literature and the broad application of the findings.
