Dr. Franco Blezza receives the prestigious Distinguished Scholar Award

European Journal of Scientific Research pays tribute to Dr. Franco Blezza’s original research contribution to the field of Pedagogy as Social Science and a Social profession through several papers, particularly his articles titled “Who is My Neighbour? Pedagogical Treatment of a Partnership and Family Case”, which was published in the Volume 4 Issue 2 of the “Journal of Psychiatry and Psychiatry Disorders”; “The Pedagogist and His Professional Practice” published in Advanced research journal of medical and clinical sciences, vol. 6. no.9; “The Pedagogist with Health and Psyche Professionals” in Neurology - Research & Surgery, vol. 3; and others.

Dr. Franco Blezza

Dr. Blezza graduated in Physics with distinction (1975) disserting an experimental interdisciplinary thesis (on the Biophysics of the human vestibular apparatus), was associated with the research activities of the INFN National Institute of Nuclear Physics (1976/81) and professor of scientific subjects in secondary schools (1975/83). Postgraduate diploma on Methodology of philosophical research and on the Philosophy of sciences (1978/80), with distinction. He published papers in medical journals as physical and biophysical and then as a pedagogist.

Having met the Social Sciences and particularly Didactics and Pedagogy, was aware of the fruitfulness of applying experimental scientific research experience in this field. He became a researcher (1983) and then associate professor at the University of Trieste, and since 2001 full Professor on General and Social Pedagogy / Allgemeine und Sozialpädagogik at the “Gabriele d'Annunzio” University of Chieti – Pescara. He was one of the founders of the Faculty of Social Sciences and the first president of the degree course in Sociology.

His research in the 1980s concerned the school pedagogy and the experimental didactics on scientific subjects. In this context, he proposed and experimented with positive results an original conception of the teaching of the natural sciences in all levels of “integrated” school with the teachings of the linguistic, historical, philosophical and classical areas on a consistent and solid pedagogical. epistemological and historiographical basis.

The SIF, Italian Physics Society, awarded him the prize for young physics researchers in 1977, and the prize for the Didactics of Physics in 1988.

After this commitment, Dr. Blezza has been involved in social pedagogy and the profession of pedagogist for thirty years, proposing an organic system of theorical and methodological foundations, techniques, procedures, technical vocabulary and everything that is a condition for the existence and the practice of a profession and a professional category. He practices the pedagogical helping relationship, especially on problems of partnership, parenthood and family. The complex is compsumed in the procedure known as “interlocuzione pedagogica / pedagogical interlocution” and in the proposal of a new branch called “professional pedagogy”.

Dr. Franco Blezza's research on general, social and professional pedagogy is in continuity with the 2500-year history of pedagogy from ancient Greece through classical Rome, the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, with a renewed driving force by the Sozialpädagogik. The latter plays a similar function to the scientific foundations of the social and intellectual professions of the psychological, psychoanalytic, social and anthropological areas from the 19th century to the following century.

Dr. Blezza is affiliated with the Department of Philosophical, Pedagogical and Economic-quantitative Sciences, where is dean, of Chieti “d’Annunzio University” - Italy.

The most substantial originality of his research lies in the revival of the general social dimension of pedagogy as a science and as a profession compared to recent traditions that confined her to certain sectors and levels of school. The profession of pedagogist according to Blezza is a profession of dialogue, by helping, caring and non-therapeutic, in which family, social, relational, territorial services, Bildung, digital universe problems are posed, to devise possible solutions by the interlocutors and to subject them to the rules of internal coherence and external coherence, with the particular Pedagogist help, all aimed at their applicability and their inter-personal transferability. The dialogue, as the research, is unended. Original is the conception of problem, problem posing and problem solving, original is the professional setting and way to practice, which allows to satisfy the social needs of the last sixty years.

This research apply also to world of health, and the role that in this context must have the pedagogist as a leading professional. School problems, at all levels, are included in the research domain, as very important special cases of a more general social discourse.

Selection of candidates are based on their outstanding scholarly contribution to the scientific knowledge in their fields of scientific research with respect to a set of criteria, including the overall importance of the research question or problem and level of innovation in the topic, the effectiveness and novelty of the methodology and data employed, academic significance and usefulness of conclusions resulting from the research, adequacy of the critical review of relevant literature and the broad application of the findings."
